Mrs. Ella Dillard was born near Cartersville, Ga., Feb. 26, 1878. Oak Hill church and one-room school were 1 1/2 mile to walk for Sunday school and short school terms. Later her family moved to the Cleburne, Texas area and it was here she married Rob. L. Dillard in 1895, and to them four daughters and two sons were born. The Dillard family came to Carnegie in April 1911, first farming north of town before locating in the Alden community where Mrs. Dillard was active in church and neighborhood events. After Mr. Dillard's death in 1939, she moved to Carnegie and now lives with her daughter at 218 East Main.

Dillard Rites Held Monday
Services for Ella Dillard, 99, of Carnegie were at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Bill Dickover of Tonkawa, former pastor, officiating.
Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of Pitcher Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dillard died Friday at the Carnegie Nursing Home. Born on Feb. 26, 1878, at Pine Log, Ga., she was married to Robert Lee Dillard on Dec. 25, 1895, at Cleburn, Texas. The Dillards moved to the Carnegie area in 1918.
She was preceded in death by her husband in May 1939. Mrs. Dillard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carnegie.
Survivors include her son, Weldon of Carnegie; three daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Ferrell, Mrs. Beulah Dillard and Mrs. Lorene Stovall of Carnegie; one sister, Minnie Anderson of Burleson, Texas; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
