"Martin Austin, 84, former carpenter and contractor at Thompson, died Monday morning in a Mason City hospital. Death was caused by pneumonia. He entered the hospital February 20. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Mason City for some time. He was united in marriage to Gena Beck on February 27, 1905 at Forest City. She passed away April 3, 1964. A son Floyd also preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Marlin of Detroit, Mich., 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, T.E. of Thompson, Gilbert of Covina, Calif., and Edwin of Chicago, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Nettie Sims of California. Funeral services will be held here on Friday at 1 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran church. Rev. V.T. Twedt will officiate and will be assisted by a Mason City pastor. Interment will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Six grandsons will be pallbearers: Kenneth, Donald and Jerry Austin of Mason City, Daniel Boster of Sheldon and Glenn and Charles Austin of Mason City."
