Lydia A Gillett was the daughter of Omri Orrin Gillett and Julia Eldred.

She married Loren D Marks, the son of Jabez Marks and Parmelia of Roseboom, in 1860.

They had these children: Loren D Jr 1868, LeRoy 1875.

South Valley

News came Tuesday morning of the death of Mrs. Lydia Marks, who went to Cooperstown the past fall with her son, LeRoy Marks, to spend the winter, but expected to return to her own home as soon as the weather had settled. We extend our sympathy to the sons' families in their breavement. Mrs. Marks will be brought here for burial in South Valley Union Cemetery.

Lyda A. Marks

On Monday morning at the home of her son, LeRoy Marks, on Grove street, occurred the death of Lyda A. Marks, as a result of pneumonia. Mrs. Marks was born seventy nine years ago in the town of Roseboom, in the village of South Valley. She was a daughter of the late Julia and Omri Gillett. Mrs. Marks had spent nearly all of her life in the vicinity of South Valley, coming for the last few winters to spend the winter with her sons at this place.

Sixty-one years ago she was united in marriage with Loren Marks of South Valley to whom two sons were born, L. and LeRoy J. Marks both residing in Cooperstown, and who survive her.

Mrs. Marks was a devoted mother and an earnest Christian taking an active part in church work for many years. She was a zealous worker in the Christian church at South Valley, where she will be greatly missed.

The funeral was held from her son's home on Grove street Thursday morning with the Rev. Clarence Brown officiating. Interment in the South Valley cemetery.
