He was born on November 22, 1938, in Louisa County, Virginia, to the late Frank Wilmore Shelton Sr. and Lowrine Elizabeth Jackson Shelton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Kevin M. Shelton; and one daughter, Kathy S. Wilkerson; a sister, Edith Bland; and one brother, Curtis Shelton.
He was a lifelong resident of Louisa County known by all as a gentle kind man.
He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Shelton of Oxen Hill, Maryland, and Harvey R. Shelton of Mineral, Virginia; two daughters, Janice S. Graves of Oxen Hill, Maryland, and Tammy S. Scott of Gum Springs, Virginia; three brothers, Frank Shelton Jr. and Clarence Shelton, both of Mineral, Virginia, and Leroy Shelton of Louisa, Virginia; one sister, Lucille Pryor of Montpelier, Virginia; eight grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the Rising Sun Baptist Church in Mineral, Virginia, with Pastor Fred Sales officiating.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 12 until 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010. The body will also lie in state at the church from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, and from 12 until 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
