Obituary: The Norwalk Star October 30, 1925
Erenestine Schell (nee Bucholtz) was born in Jagow, Germany, January 12, 1859. She came to this country with her parents in 1867 and settled in Dane County, Wisconsin. After a few years they moved to South Ridge, Monroe County, Wisconsin.
In 1879 on the 18th of December she was united in marriage with John F. Schell of Norwalk. This union was blessed with nine children- five sons and four daughters.
The family lived for 31 years on a farm at Ridgeville and removed to Norwalk, where they lived the last 15 years.
Mrs. Schell was a quiet, unassuming woman, a kind and loving mother and a patient sufferer. She was a faithful member of the Evangelical church for many years.
After years of ill health and patient suffering she passed away October 21, 1925, at 6:29 p.m.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, five sons: Frank, Arnold, Frederick living in Norwalk; Henry and Harvey of Cashton; four daughters; (Anna) Mrs. C. Wise, Portland, Oregon; (Josephine) Mrs. H. Kelk, La Crosse; (Emma) Mrs. O. W. Sprecher, Sparta; (Mayme) Mrs. C. Yohnkey, Tunnel City; also two brothers, Gotlieb of Wilton and Frank of Ridgeville, and 15 grandchildren.
Services were conducted Saturday afternoon in the Evangelical church. Mr. N. B. Vandall sang three beautiful solos. H. A. Block preached in German and English. A large crowd was present. She was laid to rest in Wanderer's Rest Cemetery.
