Elmer C. Bame was the son of John F. and Mary E. Bame, born Dec. 13, 1890 in Lawrence Co., Ohio, as listed in the 1910 federal census. By 1910, he is listed as the eldest child of seven children of John and Mary. However, the Scottown Cemetery lists John F. married to Hattie May Wall, daughter of Cyrus Kemp and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Dillon Wall. At the time of his death, Elmer is listed as a farmer. The Cabell Co. Death Register lists his death as an accident involving a street car in Huntington, WV, where he is reported to have fallen from the street car on Sept. 3, 1910. Both 1889 and 1890 are listed as birth years in the literature. However, his age is listed as 22 in the Cabell Co., Death Register and his grave marker lists 1889 as his birth year.

His name and dates are repeated on two separate but adjacent markers.
