The inscription "son of John and Mary" references John F. Bame and his second wife, Mary (McCorkle) Bame. John married Mary Elizabeth McCorkle in 1893 following the death of his first wife, Hattie May Wall in 1892. Their second child Robert Forest Bame died at the approximate age of five weeks and was buried here in the Scottown Cemetery.
