Apalachin: Hartley Allyn, 90, of Apalachin, NY, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 16, 2013 while doing what he loved to do, fishing. He was born in Warren Center, PA on April 22, 1923 the son of the late Fred and Myrtle Allyn. He was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2011; and five brothers and sisters; Hartley is survived by his two sons, Kevin (Judy) Allyn, East Freetown, NY, and Terry Allyn, Newark Valley; four grandchildren, Jess Allyn, Ryan Allyn, Amy Allyn and Dillon Hunt; three great grandchildren, Kenra Allyn and Wyatt Allyn and Jasper Allyn; sister Laura Strunk. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army. A fan of watching baseball, Hartley was an avid Yankee's fan. Hartley enjoyed many outdoor activities, from snowmobiling with his family and friends to hunting and fishing with his wife, children and grandchildren teaching them the ways of the wild. Funeral Services will be held at Richards Funeral Home, 3670 Waverly Rd, Owego, NY 13827 on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 1:00pm with Rev. Donna Taylor Martin, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Warren Center Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit at Richards Funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00pm until the time of service.
