Andrew was my 4th (maternal) Ggrandfather. He was born near Mt. Aetna, Berks County, Pennsylvania to John George Zeller and Maria Barbara Haas. His siblings were Anna Maria Zeller Lafever, Elizabeth Zeller Reigel, Margaret Elizabeth Zeller Harderman, Susannah Zeller Schneider, Peter, Barbara (died very young), Jacob, Catherine Zeller Batdorf, Henry, Adam and John.
In 1779,he married Catherine Forrer in Pennsylvania. The marriage was performed by Rev. Wm. Hendel, brother-in-law to Phillip Wm. Otterbein. The license was obtained in Lebanon County, PA.
Andrew emmigrated to German Township, Montgomery County, Ohio in 1805/6. He purchased 500 acres of land for a farm which was 1 mile north of Germantown. He founded the first United Brethen Church west of the Alleghenies on his farm 2 miles north of Germantown, Ohio. Andrew was the first western bishop of the United Brethen Church.
Andrew and Catharine had nine children: Catherine, John, Elizabeth (my 3rd Ggrandmother), George, Michael, Andrew, Barbara, Charitina and Mary. After Catherine's death, Andrew married Frances Ellis, the widow of another Revolutionary soldier, Rowland Ellis. This marriage occurred on December 11, 1827.
Andrew passed away in 1839, first buried on his farm, later was interred in Germantown Cemetery, Germantown, Ohio. Officially he was known as Bishop Andrew Zeller.
Thanks to K. Brandon on Findagrave for providing me with info on Frances Ellis, Andrew's D.O.B and D.O.D, the graveyard where Andrew was originally buried and some history of the place!
