She was the second youngest daughter of Bishop Andrew Zeller and Catherine Forrer. Her siblings were Catherine, John, Elizabeth, George, Michael, Andrew, Barbara and Mary. Christena was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania and came to Ohio with the rest of her family in 1806 and made their home in the Dayton area.
She married Bishop Henry Kumler, Jr. (1801-1882) and they were members of the United Brethren Church. Christena and Henry had two sons, Jesse B. (1832-1918) and Samuel E.( 1839-1910).
