In 1878 he was elected an associate of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, becoming a full member the following year. This was also the year of his marriage, and he and his new wife, who was also an artist, spent the next few years painting in Italy, France, and Germany. They returned to London in 1882, and became part of a circle of leading artists including Sir James Linton, Charles Green, James Orrock, and Lewis Day.

He continued to travel widely in Europe and the Middle East and exhibited extensively, including at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, and the Fine Art Society.
His works appear in a number of collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. They are primarily of England, France, Italy, Greece, and the Holy Land. His sketches, lithographs, and paintings were in great demand as illustrations for books.
He married Elizabeth Sarah Elgood, daughter of Samuel Elgood of Leicester, in 1878. They had two daughters followed by a son; these were Margaret "Marjorie" Keturah Fulleylove (d. 28 Mar 1961), who was the second wife of the naturalist and priest Rev. Alfred Thornley; the stained glass artist Joan Fulleylove; and the architect and artist [John] Christopher Bradshaw Fulleylove. Fulleylove was also the brother-in-law of the garden painter George Elgood (1851-1943).
