Sharron J. Zollman
Joseph
1937-2010

Sharron Joy Zollman, 72, of Joseph, died Jan. 23 in La Grande. A celebration of life will be planned and details will be announced by the family later. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born Sept. 3, 1937, to Charles Thompson and Erma Tippett in Enterprise. She married Delwyn Zollman June 7, 1957, in Lewiston. They lived in Joseph since that time.

She was a princess on the 1954 Chief Joseph Days court and was a graduate of Joseph High School in 1955. Sharron was a graduate of Kinmen Business College in Spokane. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service for two years as a secretary/dispatcher. She was Dr. Coffman's first secretary when he moved to Wallowa County, and for a short time his office was in her house. She was also an office secretary for Chief Joseph Dental Clinic for 10 years.

She spent many years helping her mother and stepfather with their popular business in Joseph, the Gold Room Restaurant and Bar.

Sharron was a 4-H knitting instructor for several years and did many crafts in her spare time. She was a member of the Wallowa County EMT Association for 15 years. She was the secretary of the Joseph High School Alumni Association for several years.

She assisted her husband in his Little League coaching and was the official score keeper for many tournaments held in the Wallowa Valley.

Sharron was an avid hunter and enjoyed and appreciated the outdoors, beautiful scenery and wildlife. She enjoyed following her children's and grandchildren's sporting events during their school days.

She loved her "babies" as she affectionately called her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Since 2003, Sharron and Delwyn called Troy their home away from home as they spent their time shuttling floaters and fishermen for Bill Vail. She helped for a short time at the restaurant in Troy.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Delwyn; mother, Erma Tippett of Lewiston; son, Craig of La Grande; two brothers, Dan Tippett of Lewiston and Michael Thompson of Portland; one sister, Vikki Bonfield of Asotin, Wash; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ben Tippett; her father, Charles; and two children, Dirk Zollman and Karla Zollman Earl.
