Born Aug. 12, 1955, in Sapulpa, he was the son of Robert Gene and Mary Orlean (Logan) Francis. He graduated from Quinton High School in 1973. He married Marva Burke on Aug. 23, 1974, in Fairview Valley. He served in the United States Navy on the Aircraft Carrier Ranger from 1975 until 1979.He worked for Enogex and National Oil Well as a gas compressor mechanic. He also worked for Quinton Hardware where he made many life long friends. He enjoyed four wheelers, shooting sports and walking the woods with his dogs. He passed away at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Survivors include mother, Mary Francis and Marvin, of McAlester; wife, Marva Francis, of the home; son, Staff Sgt. Justin Francis, Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Larry Francis and wife, Terri, Cleona, Penn., and Stanley Francis and Sarah, Greenville, Texas; nieces and nephews, Mary Margaret Wildasin and husband, Rob, J.R. Francis and wife, Erica, and Melissa Francis, and great-nieces and great-nephews, Sadie, Grace, Logan and Claire.He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gene Francis.Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Thompson, Gary Tidball, Dennis Abbot, Ruben Lee, Gary Henson, Clark Powell and Tony Miller. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Quinton Church of Christ with Joe Ware officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
