Peter was the son of Vincenzo and Maria Godino. He was born in Acri, Italy. He came through Ellis Island at the age of eight, and settled in the Philadelphia area.

In 1939, Peter joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served as a B-24 tail gunner with the 461st Bomber Group in World War II. On July 25, 1944, his plane split in half, shot down over Austria, and he survived until August 1945 as a POW. Peter was awarded two Purple Hearts, and an Oak Leaf Cluster.

Peter settled in Fresno in 1953, where he raised his family and began his career as a Master Plasterer.

He was a long time member of the local VFW and the Dante Club.

Peter touched so many people throughout his life and gave generously of his time, wisdom, friendship, and love. He will be greatly missed!

He is preceded in death by Elaine, his wife of 46 years; and his brother Alfredo. He is survived by his two sisters, Sarah Mc Cabe and Emma Trevaskis; and his four daughters and sons-in-law: Sue and Bob Paull of Fresno, Joan and Ken Ritter of Fayetteville NC, Sara and Barry Scheesley of Hanford, Stacy and Steve Russell of Fresno and their families, including 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
