Pfc. Duane Tharp, 18-year-old Coryell County soldier, died in Korea Tuesday of chest injuries sustained when he was accidentally struck by a truck.
He is the son of Mrs. Dave Lynch of Gatesville. Tharp, who attended high school at Jonesboro, entered the service about 18 months ago and had been in Korea the last year. His body is being returned to the States for funeral services and burial.
In addition to his mother, young Tharp is survived by his father, W. D. Tharp of Aztec, N. M.; a brother, Albert Lee Tharp of Aztec; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Tharp of Turnersville and Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Harvison of Jonesboro.
