Louise Ellen Blankenship, age 82 of Raven, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at her home. Born November 19, 1927 in Tazewell, County, Virginia she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Mattie Blackwell Cordle.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Thomas Blankenship, Jr.; and three brothers, Winfred Cordle, Howard Cordle and George Cordle.
She is survived by six sons, James Blankenship and wife, Jean of Raven; Fred Blankenship and wife, Bonnie of Wardell; Roger Blankenship and wife, Kathy of Pounding Mill; Noah David Blankenship and wife, Terri of Raven; Ronald Blankenship and wife, Judy of Raven; Roy Blankenship and wife, Bernice of Doran; two daughters, Mary Faye Royal of Doran and Barbara Royal and husband, Eddie of Pounding Mill; one sister, Virginia Shelton of Doran; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 21, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Dannie D. Short officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Bobby Mullins, Ronnie Blankenship, Arnold Lester, Terry Osborne, Kevin Blankenship and Roger Blankenship, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Saturday and Sunday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
