Ernest Karnatz, son of John and Lena Karnatz was born at St Francis, Kansas, March 3, 1891 and passed away at the Sprague Nursing Home at Red Cloud, Nebraska, January 28, 1977 at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 25 days.

He was a carpenter in the Guide Rock and Red Cloud communities for 50 years. He married Sylvia Beeler on Dec 15, 1914. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1969. He is survived by one sister, Mrs Effie Morris, Burr Oak; a stepson Jess Sund, Indianola, Iowa and a number of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 1, 1977 at 10 am. from the Simonson Funeral Home Red Cloud, Neb. with Rev Frank Schroeder officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs Louise Eldred, soloist, who sang "Nearer to the Heart of God" and "In the Garden." She was accompanied by Sylvia Beams, organist. Pallbearers were Loren Booker, Bill Sholtz, Dean Sholtz, Albert Payne, Ray Amack, Victor James. Interment was in the Guide Rock Cemetery, Guide Rock, Nebraska.
