Ray Orval Hawkins, 75, retired power plant operator, died on May 8, 1993 at Stevens County Hospital. He was born on May 16, 1917 in Marble, Arkansas to Owen and Rose Mae (Smith) Hawkins. He married Ethel Eva McCollough on November 19, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. They moved to Hugoton in 1949. Survivors include his wife; his son, David Ray Hawkins of Liberal; his daughters, Margaret May Duncan of Lakin and Beulah Faye Buhrmann of Hugoton; his brothers, Claude Leslie Hawkins of Glendale, Arizona, Fay Franklin Hawkins of Fairfield, California, Paskel Boyd "Pat" Hawkins of Hugoton, and Owen Hawkins, Jr. of Decatur, Arkansas; his sister, Marie Louise Hudman of Alamogordo, New Mexico; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Assembly of God Church with Rev. Robert Bailey officiating. Burial was in Hugoton Cemetery under the direction of Paul's Funeral Home.
