Judge William W. Brady served eighteen consecutive years as county clerk of Wise County, and four years as county judge, a tenure of positions of trust hardly approached in the county's history by a second person.

Judge Brady came to Wise County in 1855 with his brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Stewart and his family. He married Harriet R Bryan, 07 Sep 1859 in Wise County, a daughter of James C and Sarah Gulledge Bryan, of Bradley County, Tennessee.
