James Hodges Dies at Age 85.
James Hodges, 85, of 412 Seventh Ave. West, died in a Kalispell hospital yesterday.
Mr. Hodges was born in Wales, England, Nov. 4, 1873. He came to America in 1902. On Feb. 19, 1902, he married Catherine John in Okauwka, Ill.
In 1912 they came to Joplin where they were engaged in farming. In 1955, they retired and came to Kalispell to make their home. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American war and was discharged with a rank of sergeant.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine, in Kalispell; one daughter, Mrs. Julius Van Dessel, in Havre, and five sons, James of Ephrata, Wash., Harold and William in Joplin, Donald South St. Paul, Minn., and Eugene in Kalispell; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Thomas, in Joplin, and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Boden, in Galesburg, Ill.
Funeral services will be in Bethel Lutheran Church in Joplin. Burial will be in Chester cemetery.
