Deceased Name: Zelma Bays Enochs
Zelma "Swann" Bays Enochs, born February 11, 1922, of Hamlin, passed away Friday, October 20, 2006, at the age of 84 years, eight months and ten days.

She was the widow of Crosby Bays and Sescoe Enochs and the daughter of John Swann and Ada "Per-singer" Swann Spears.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Brooks; two half brothers, Richard and Harold Spears; one half sister, Norma Gruber; one stepson, Clarence Gene Bays; one stepdaughter, Lulu Brammer; one grandson, Gerald Doniff; three great-grandsons, Thomas Bays, and James and Joshua Doniff. She was a Putnam County schoolteacher for 31 years and a member of Central Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Big Creek, Hamlin.

She is survived by two sons, Lonnie Bays of Hamlin, and Leland Bays of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one daughter, Sue Ellen Bays of Hamlin; one stepson, Earl Bays of Hamlin; two stepdaughters, Verna Wright of Tennessee and Phyllis Goff of Nitro; three half brothers, Clarence and Glen Spears of Michigan and Larry Spears of Prichard; three half sisters, Ruth Jackson of Rittman, Ohio, Patricia Hynson of Huntington, and Sharon Finnel Fiber of Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2006, at Central Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Hamlin, with the Rev. Clifford Wilcoxen officiating. Interment will be at Bay's Family Cemetery, Hamlin.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Central Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Hamlin.
