Clarence had served as a carpenter for General Motors at the 36th Street complex, retiring after 30 years of service. He was blessed by God with his talent as a carpenter and had the ability to build all types of furniture, cabinets, a grandfather clock and doing the finish carpenter work at the new Ashley Baptist Church on M44. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was married on March 27, 1948 in Ona, WV to Mary L. Scarberry.
He was preceded by his parents, daughter in infancy; Donna Jean Spears, sisters; Zelma Bays, Audrey Brooks, Norma Gruber, Sharon Fiber, and brothers; Harold Spears and Richard Spears.
