BRIDGEPORT - E.E. "Pappy" Hicks of Bridgeport, a retired Mitchell Energy field superintendent, died Thursday at a Bridgeport hospital. He was 79.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Bridgeport. Burial will be in East Bridgeport Cemetery.

Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hicks was born in Hopkins County and lived in Bridgeport since 1953. He worked for Trio Drilling Co. when he moved to Bridgeport, and later worked for Mitchell Energy for 20 years, retiring as a field superintendent in 1977. He was a Mason and a member of Green Pond Baptist Church in Hopkins County.

Survivors: Wife, Clara Hicks of Bridgeport; son, Everett Lee Hicks of Bridgeport; three daughters, Jean Ray of Winnsboro and Marjorie Isom and Nell Admire, both of Bridgeport; two brothers, George Hicks of Sulphur Springs and Paul Gamblin of Winnsboro; three sisters, Leo Hurley of Dallas, Gladys Glover of Tyler and Maurine O'Dell of Hughes Springs; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-
