Lucy A. Wilkinson was a daughter of William R. Wilkinson (c.1816-1850s) and his second wife Nancy Adeline DeWeese (1827-1862). While her death cert. states she was born in Gaston Co., NC, I believe she was actually born in South Carolina (probably Lancaster Co.) though her family was in Gaston Co. by 1860. Lucy married James Morrison Irvin (1854-1915) on 30 Jan. 1878. He was a son of Benjamin Barnett Irvin and his wife Margaret Sophia Morrison.

Lucy and James had seven children, per the 1900 census, five then living, but I only have six names: Carlton Lionel "Carl" Irvin (1879-1952, m. Maude M. Neill), Luxora Osoreah "Ora" Irvin (1882-1921, m. J. W. H. Johnson), Lester Field Irvin (1884-1957, m. Annie Lee Lyerly), Rena Lee Irvin (1887-1906), Renn Wilkinson Irvin (1891-1969, m. Della Margaret Sumrow) and Marene Irvin (1895-1896).
