Newville-Harvey Donald Shearer Sr., 90, a resident of Swaim Health Center and formerly of Ritner Highway, died Thursday morning, Sept. 17, 1992, at the health center. Born Nov. 25, 1901, in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late William and Annie Baker Shearer. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. Mr. Shearer was a custodian in Big Spring School District, working at Plainfield Elementry School. He also was a driver for Henry's Bakery in Shippensburg. His wife, Nina Mae Gardner Shearer, died April 1976. surviving are four daughters: Doris Warren of Carlisle, Gloria Williams of Mechanicsburg, Twila Winters of Shippensburg and Linda Bowles of Newville; four sons; H. Donald Jr. of Shippensburg, William L. and Kenneth L., both of Newville, and Richard L. of Huntington; a sister, Elizabeth Butts of Chambersburg; a brother LeRoy of Shippensburg; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Egger Funeral Home, 15 Big Spring Ave. The Rev. Robert Rhoads will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Spring Run. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund, First United Presbyterian Church, 111 Big Spring Ave. , Newville 17241.
