Blanche A. (Chambers) Sticha passed away on June 17, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Janice Hyatt, of Baxter, Minn., at age 94. She was born March 8, 1915, in Underwood, Minn., to Walter and Minnie Chambers.

She was married to Henry A. Sticha of Clarissa, Minn., where they lived for seven years. In 1940 they moved to Brainerd where they purchased land, built a home and raised their family.

Blanche attended Brainerd Junior College, taking evening classes in small business and typing. She opened her own business in 1958 and managed it for 17 years.

She was a Campfire Girls leader, worked at Sears and a member of First Baptist Church of Brainerd for more than 50 years. She was a member of Florence Rebekah Lodge for 42 years where she held leadership positions and was state president of Rebekah Assembly of Minnesota in 1970-71.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; five brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, David Hyatt.

She is survived by two sisters, Fern Borntreger, of Chester, S.C., and Irene Dingman, of Helendale, Calif. Also surviving her are all five of her children and their spouses, Henry Jr. (Dorothy) Sticha, Grace (Roy) Farr, of Arlington, Minn., Janice (Loyal) Hyatt, of Baxter, Minn., Darrell "Jerry" (Julee) Sticha, of St. Cloud, Minn., and Jack (Gloria) Sticha, of Brainerd, Minn.

Other survivors include 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Baxter with the Rev. David Grotzke officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.

Arrangements are with the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.
