Gladys Ida Wade Boyd
Gladys Ida Wade Boyd, age 88, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009. Born September 2, 1921 at Short Gap, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Nathan Walter (Babe) and Molly Chambers Wade.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Titus M. (Shorty) Boyd; brothers, Rufus (Peach) Wade and Carl Wade; sisters, Eunice Baldwin, Edie Smith and Stella Gillespie.
She is survived by one son, Michael T. Boyd and wife, Sue of Cedar Bluff; two daughters, Sue Hagy and husband, Bill of Bristol, VA and Patti Gilbert and husband, Perry, Jr. of Cedar Bluff, one sister, Venia Newberry of Newport News, VA; six grandchildren, Kenny Hagy and wife, Barbie of Cedar Bluff, Ricky Boyd and wife, Dene of Rural Retreat, Shawn Boyd and wife, Valerie of Cedar Bluff, Perry Gilbert, III of Oak Harbor, WA, Nathan Gilbert of Cedar Bluff and Sarah Gilbert of Banner Elk, NC; three great-grandchildren, Ty and Trey Boyd and Maggie Grace Boyd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Phillip Horton and Rev. Roger Lester officiating. The family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. Saturday.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the mausoleum. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.
