Sarah "Edie" Smith, 81, of Doran, Va., died Wednesday in a Richlands, Va., hospital.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Nathan W. and Molly Chambers Wade. She was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Thomas Smith, and her daughter, Maxie Marie Smith.
Survivors: sons, Earl Dolphus Smith of Richlands, Raymond Shuler Smith of Doran, Luther Smith of Raven, Va., Tom C. Smith of the home; daughter, Mrs. Lula Martin of Cedar Bluff, Va.; brother, Paul Wade of Short Gap, Va.; sisters, Mrs. Eunice Baldwin of Raven, Mrs. Stella Gillespie of Richlands, Mrs. Gladys Boyd of Cedar Bluff, Mrs. Vinnie Newberry of Newport News, Va.; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Johnny Grindstead officiating with burial in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday.
