She was raised with her cousin Elza Slane (Peck) whose mother had died when she was a baby. Laura married Millard Basehoar on June 16, 1937 in Princeville, Illinois and they had six children - Leroy, Bob, Fred, Sharon, Ron and Cindy. Laura died on April 24, 2001 in Princeville, Illinois and was buried with her husband in Hanover, York County, PA where he had died 17 years earlier.
