Art Prewitt, 83, Twisp, died Tuesday at his home. He was born June 28, 1898, at Twisp. Mr. Prewitt grew up in the Methow Valley on his parents' homestead north of Twisp where he lived and was working at the time of his death.

He married Edna Shaw on July 29, 1929 in Waterville. As a young man he drove a truck for Wetzel Lumber and Methow Valley Freight for 17 years. He then returned to his parents' homestead to ranch. Mr. Prewitt also worked for 10 years in the 1950s as a custodian for the Twisp School District.

Survivors include his wife, Edna, Twisp; one daughter, Ina Marie Rimsberg, Twisp; three sons, Delbert of Tacoma, Lee and Tex, both of Twisp; two brothers, Floyd of Earp, California, and Claude of Diamond, Washington; one sister, Edith Ellsworth, San Bruno, California; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Precht's Methow Valley Chapel, Twisp, is in charge of arrangements.
