Robert T. Prewitt, pioneer of the Methow Valley passed away at 5 a.m., Monday, Sept. 15, [1946] at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maude Allen [Twisp].

Mr. Prewitt or "Bob" as he was generally known to the people of the valley was one of the early pioneers, having first come here in 1887. He moved his family and established his home 2 ½ miles north of Twisp in 1890.

He was a very public spirited man, giving much time in the building of school houses, roads, and ditches. He served three terms as county commissioner during the early formation of Okanogan County.

He is survived by five daughters: Mrs. T. R. Pinkerton, Cashmere; Mrs. Cora Petterson, Portland, Ore., Mrs. A. C. Lehman, and Mrs. Maude Allen, Twisp; Mrs. L. V. Ellsworth, San Francisco; and by three sons: Robert Prewitt, Seattle; C. Arthur Prewitt, Twisp; and Floyd J. Prewitt, Deer Park, Wash.

Mr. Prewitt was 88 years, three months and 28 days old at time of his death. Mrs. Prewitt passed away Dec. 29, 1944. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Wendell Cone at the Methodist Church and burial was in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were A. C. Lehman, Claude Prewitt, Leon Lehman, Vernon LaMotte, Art Prewitt, and Royal Pinkerton. Mrs. J. A. Allen accompanied the ladies' trio of Mrs. Fred Hanse, Mrs. L. D. Hollaway and Mrs. Floyd Kent who sang at the services.
