OGLE SERVICES SET FOR TODAY
Funeral services will be held today for Levi Ogle, 82-year-old Caddo county pioneer , who has been a resident of Anadarko since the year of the territory's opening, 1901.
Ogle died at the Anadarko hospital, 10 p.m. Friday following an illness of several years which necessitated his entrance to the hospital December 17.
The pioneer was born in Rockport, Ill., September 20, 1857. He married Emma Jane Garrett, who preceded him in death four years ago, in Olathe, Kansas in 1881, and to this union five children were born.
Ogle moved with his family to Chillicothe, Mo. in 1900 and after a short while moved to the Anadarko territory where he and his brother, Wash Ogle, established a mercantile store. Site of their first business was a frame building near the present location of Youngheim's Clothing Store.
In 1902 the Ogle brothers constructed a two story brick building in the 100 block of East Broadway and established the People's Store. He remained in the mercantile business until 1923 when his health forced him to retire.
Always a leader in civic affairs while in active business, Ogle served as president of the Anadarko Chamber of Commerce in 1909 and was a member of the Anadarko IOOF lodge and the encampment.
Services will be held at the First Christian Church at 2 p.m. today with Rev. O. K. Posey conducting. Following the services interment will be held at the Anadarko Cemetery under the direction of the I.O.O.F. lodge here.
Surviving Ogle are two daughters, Mrs. John Pfaff and Mrs. Gladys Ports both of Anadarko; three sons, H. E. Ogle and G. W. Ogle both of Anadarko; and R. W. Ogle, Sand Point, Idaho. R. W. Ogle will not be able to attend the rites. Also surviving are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
