Frank M. Rottinghaus: Francis M. (Prank) Rottinghaus, good citizen of Nemaha county, farmer of north of Seneca who had lived in this community all of his life, died October 24, 1958, from a long-illness.
He was 58 years of age; born at Seneca on September 29, 1900, son of Henry and Barbara Weber Rottinghaus now deceased.
He and Emma Krogmann were married on January 7, 1931, at Sacred Heart church in Rockwell, Iowa.
He leaves his wife and their children: Mrs. Roland Stallbaumer of Seneca, Walter of the home,
Mrs. Robert Sack of Kansas City, Mo., Viola at home. John, who is in service and stationed at San Diego; Ida who is in nurse training at St. Mary's hospital in Kansas City, and Frances, Ethel, Jane and Jerry of .the home.
There are also four grandchildren; and three brothers, Joe Rottinghaus of Floyd, Iowa, Jake
of Montrose, Colorado and Paul of Horton, Kansas. Four brothers, John, George, Albert and Clemens, and two sisters, Lena, who died when small, and Mary, who was Mrs. Henry Bussman, preceded him in death.
Frank was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church, of the Knights of Columbus, and
of the St. Joseph's Society.
He was a successful farmer, exceptional family man, and liked by all. Those who had business dealings with him enjoyed it. He was a quiet man, but very pleasant. In public service to his fellow man he had served as township treasurer; was active in 4-H club work; served on the school board of Liberty school; he was active in several farm organizations. He was much interested in school activities and enjoyed sports.
The Monday issue of the paper, telling of his death, noted how the family worked together as a unit, which was featured in a farm magazine story.
The funeral service for Mr. Rottinghaus was Monday morning at Sts. Peter and Paul church with Father Fidelis offering the Mass. The rosary service preceding at the Lauer funeral home, had included a Rosary by K. of C. members.
The pallbearers were friends and neighbors: Harry Burger, George Steinmeier, Melvin Haug, Aloy Haverkamp, Henry Wichman, and Emil Hulsing.
The out of town relatives at the services included Mrs. Ella Rottinghaus, Gilbert, Firmin, Robert .and Alvin, of Waterloo, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rottinghaus, Floyd, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John Merfield of Marble Rock, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clark, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schrier, Fraer, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bussman of Goldfield, Iowa; Lawrence Bussman of Spring Valley, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rottinghaus of Horton; Jimmy Rottinghaus and Ray Rottinghaus of Floyd, Iowa
