SENECA NEWS NOTES
Albert Rottinghaus – The death of Albert Rottinghaus, sixth son of Mrs. Barbara Rottinghaus at the Sabetha hospital Saturday evening, June 26th, at a quarter to seven, was a sad blow to his mother, sister and brothers, other relatives and friends for until Wednesday preceding his death, he seemed to be making a rapid recovery from an operation for appendicitis, two weeks preceding. He was ill only a day preceding the operation and his condition was hopeful until complications of kidney trouble ensued. He was a bright happy boy just seventeen at the very threshold of manhood, a comfort and joy to his invalid mother. The family has always cherished the greatest affection, one towards another and his death, the second within two years, brought double grief to the family circle. Henry Rottinghaus, the husband and father, died also suddenly a year ago, the sixth of September.
Albert Rottinghaus was born at his farm home northeast of Seneca on June 17, 1903. He was popular among his schoolmates and friends. He leaves of his immediate family, his mother, sister, Mrs. Henry Bussman; brothers, John of Lacona, Ia.; Jacob of Kampler, Joseph, George, Frank and Paul, all of this community and a host of friends. He was a member of St. John the Baptis Young Men's Society of Sts. Peter and Paul's parish. Solemn requiem mass was read at Sts. Peter and Paul's church Monday morning at nine o'clock by Rev. Father Paul O.S.B. The interment was in Sts. Peter and Paul's cemetery by the side of his father.
