Services Held for Oestreich at Local Chapel
Funeral services for Joseph Oestreich, 73, a Ritzville area farmer, were held Tuesday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home with Rev. R. W. Rieger officiating.
Oestreich died Friday of a heart attack at his home at 403 North Division. He had been in ill health for the last five years.
Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Kubik, George Kubik, Merle Johnston, Bill Eckhardt, Orville Ahern and Lynn Reeve.
Oestreich was born March 5, 1888, at Bickleton to Mr. and Mrs. Christian Oestreich. He attended school in Bickleton and moved to Ritzville when he was 17.
He lived on the home place two miles north of Ritzville from 1905 until five years ago, when he moved into town. He was married to Anna M.Clodius.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Smith of Ritzville, Mrs. Edith Vincent of Ione, Mrs. Evelyn Dyer and Mrs. Irene Brown, both of Spokane; three sons, Orville, Pete and Joseph, all of Ritzville; one brother, Benjamin, of Ritzville; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One son, Elmer, died in infancy and another, Ralph, died in the crash of a private plane in 1945.
