James Rice departed from this earth last Thursday night at the home of his son, Dr. C. M. Rice, at Rose Lawn, at the age of 78 years and 8 months. The deceased had been in poor health for some time and about two weeks ago went to the home of his son where he gradually failed, until called by the death angel. The remains were brought to his home here Saturday, accompanied by his daughters Mrs. Bertha Henry and Miss Lucie Rice, both who are teachers in Illinois. The funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church, Sunday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. C. M. Filer. The deceased was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
