Joseph Kenneth Fugate was born August 31, 1885, in Russell County, Virginia, son of Isaac B. and Margaret Fugate; died October 5, 1952 at his home near Elk Creek at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 5 days.

He was married to Gussie Erwin May 24, 1911 and to this union five children were born. They are: Carl B. of the home address; Edwin J., deceased; I.B. of Fleming. Colo.; Ruth Alford of San Jose, Calif.; Joseph Kenneth. Jr., U.S. Navy. His wife and son, Edwin J., preceded him in death.

He came to south Missouri with his parents as a small child; had spent most of his life in this community as a farmer and in business at Tyrone, Elk Creek and Stultz.

He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and an asset to the community.

He is survived by the children, three brothers, 3 sisters and 5 grandchildren: O. W. Fugate, Salisbury. Mo.; A. B. Fugate, Spokane, Wash.; J. V. Fugate, Lebanon. Mo.; Mrs. A. D. Leavell, Meadville, Mo.; Mrs. V. E. Lynch, Sarcoxie, Mo.; Mrs. Sylvia Moore, Danville, Ill.; an aunt, Mrs. Mary Litton, Lebanon, Ind.; and a number of cousins.
