Gussie Evelyn Erwin was born at Phillipsburg, Kansas, July 1, 1883, and departed this life at her home at Stultz, Mo., March 2, 1940, making her age at time of death, 56 years, 8 months and 1 day.

She was united in marriage to J.K. Fugate, May 24, 1911. To this union five children were born: Carl, of Chillicothe, Mo.; Edwin, of Filmore, Calif.; I.B.; Junior and Ruth of the home.

She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, five children, two granddaughters, Veverley Marie, daughter of Carl Fugate, and Edwina Josephine, daughter of Edwin Fugate; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Brong, of West Liberty, Kentucky; Mrs. Alice Gibson, of Norman, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Mettie Harmon, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, S.N. Erwin, of Powell, Wyoming and Jess F. Erwin, of Solo, Mo. Her father, mother, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Fugate professed her faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian church early in life, and was faithful to the end.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a kind sister, a good neighbor and a friend to all whom she knew.

She was a great Christian, always ready to take her place in God's service whether great or small, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in distress and need. Surely it could be said of her as it was said of Jesus, "She went about doing good."

Mrs. Fugate will be greatly missed, not only be her family, but by the entire community. It is our loss, but Heaven's gain.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 6, by the Rev. Arch Bolerjack, in the Steely Chapel church at Elk Creek, Mo. Burial in the Elk Creek cemetery under direction of the Elliott Funeral directors.

We wish to express our appreciation and thanks to all our friends who so kindly and generously assisted during the illness and after the death of our beloved mother and wife.
