Silas Ruff- 62nd Regiment, NC Infantry, Co. A. Enlisted July 11, 1862. 34 years old. Taken prisoner Sept 9, 1863. Imprisoned at the Military Prison in Louisville until transferred to Camp Douglas on Sept 24, 1863. Died July 11, 1864 of Diarrhea. Buried Chicago City Cemetery, Grave 1189 (or 1181, the microfilm was very dim).


Silas was married to Eliza HANNAH on 16 Nov 1856 in Haywood Co., NC. They had 2 children, Sarah Jane & William R. RUFF.
