GOSPEL HERALD - Volume LXI, Number 17 - April 30, 1968, Page 395, 396 YANTZI, CHRISTIAN R., son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Yantzi, was born in East Zorra Twp., Ont., Feb. 22, 1886; died at the Stratford (Ont.) Hospital, from a stroke, Apr. 6, 1968; aged 82 y. 1 m. 15 d. In 1911 he was married to Nancy Bender, who survives. Also surviving are 9 daughters (Edna--Mrs. Solomon Gerber, Malinda--Mrs. Milton Roth, Anna--Mrs. Lorne Baechler, Wilma--Mrs. Lloyd C. Stere, Dorothy--Mrs. Alvin Lebold, Mary--Mrs. William Baechler, Ruby--Mrs. Carlyle Holst, Emma--Mrs, Mahlon Steinman, and Verna--Mrs. John Brayshaw), 2 sons (Mahlon and Lester), 47 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers (Noah and Jacob). He was a member of the Tavistock Church. Funeral services were held at the East Zorra Church, Apr. 9, with Newton L. Gingrich, assisted by Henry Yantzi, officiating.

CHRISTIAN R. YANTZI

Christian R. Yantzi, 82, Tavistock, died Saturday morning at Stratford General Hospital where he had been a patient for a day. He was a native of East Zorra Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Yantzi, and was born Feb. 16, 1886. He had farmed in North Easthope Township until retiring to Tavistock in 1940. Mr. Yantzi was a member of the Tavistock Mennonite Church.

Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy Bender; two sons, Mahlon, Petersburg; Lester, Tavistock; nine daughters, Mrs. Solomon (Edna) Gerber, Brunner; Mrs. Milton (Melinda) Roth, are: Mrs. Lorne (Anna) Baechler, New Hamburg; Mrs. Lloyd (Wilma) Stere, and Mrs. Alvin (Dorothy) Lebold, Tavistock; Mrs. William (Mary) Baechler, Zurich; Mrs. Carlyle (Ruby) Holst, Petersburg; Mrs. Mahlon (Emma) Steinman, Shakespeare, and Mrs. John (Verna) Brayshaw, Galt; two brothers, Noah, Shakespeare, and Jacob, East Zorra; 47 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The Robert Krug Funeral Home was in charge. The funeral service was held yesterday afternoon at the 16th line East Zorra Mennonite Church, and burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Newton Gingrich officiated.
