Ira Lee Cole, born in Leach, OK had been a lifelong resident of Cherokee & Delaware Counties, and had lived at Teresita since 1934. He lived a year in Modesto, CA.

Ira and Sylvia Etheleen Thompson were married on September 27, 1938 at Liberty, OK. Ira retired in 1978 from Patterson Steel Company, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He belonged to the Iron Workers Local #620 in Tulsa. He was also a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church since 1939.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, of the home; two sons, Herbert of Teresita and Larry of Peggs; one daughter, Miss Naomi Cole of Sapulpa; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers, Earl & Henry of Orangevale, CA; Auston & Robert of Modesto, CA, and Willard of Peggs, OK; four sisters, Melvie Moore of Bakersfield, CA; Dovie Gunter of Modesto, CA; Rosie Troglin of Pryor, OK and Nettie Holmes of Orangevale, CA. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angela Marie Cole in 1981. Interment at Blue Springs Cemetery, Gideon, Cherokee County, Oklahoma.
