Housewife MILLEN, Ga.-Dorothy Lane, 75, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004, at her home in Millen, Georgia. Known to most as "Aunt Dot" or "Nanny Dot" she was a Christian gentile Southern Lady in every aspect of her life. Known for her penchant for distressed animals, she was always caring for a sick, injured, or abandoned stray. She was born during the Depression in the coal-mining town of Manchester, Kentucky. After marrying J.C. they soon moved to Augusta, where he worked for the Veterans Administration. After thirty years, they chose J.C.'s hometown of Millen for their retirement home. She considered Millen her home and now her final resting place. She leaves her son and his wife, Mike and Linda Lane of Millen, and her daughter and her husband, Linda and Vernon Terry of Augusta. She leaves three grand children, Chuck Lane and Laura Hensley of Millen, and Mike Terry of Augusta. Her legacy also includes five great-grand children, Scott Terry of Augusta, Chase Lane, Mason Lane, Abbie Talley, and Trenton Hensley, all of Millen. Her husband J.C. Lane preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held at the Millen City Cemetery at 11 a. m. on Thursday. The Reverend Richard Daniels will bless her journey. At her request, firefighters of the North Jenkins County Volunteer Fire Department will serve as her pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are with Crowe-Fields Funeral Home in Millen.
