He was the son of Michael H. and Zilphia Robinson Reid (Clay County, KY). He was brother to Cleo Reid Franz, Austin, Joseph, Calvin G., Hiram, Irene Reid Francis, Charles R. Reid, and Dorothy Reid Lane. A "Teamster", Martin retired from Time DC Truck Lines.
