Paul Pete Bales, 52, of Rt. 3, Bluefield, died in a Bluefield Hospital Monday, January 11, 1971 after a long illness.
Born September 17, 1918 in Flat Top, W.V. he was a son of the late Melvin and Dora Bales. He has been a resident of Rt. 3, Bluefield for the past year formerly of Elkhorn in McDowell County. He was a retired coal miner.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Rigney Bales; five daughters, Gay Bales of the home, Mrs. James Dillon of Richmond, Va., Mrs. George McArthur of Boulder, Co., Mrs. Bobby Atkins of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Miss Carol Bal es of Washington, D.C. ; one son, Larry Bales of Richmond, Va.; one brother Adam Bales of War; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Joe Lambert and Rev. D. Homer Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Bluewell.
Pallbearers will be Paul Creggar, Charlie Moore, Nick Semanco, Paul Hornick, Frank Hornick, Robert Price, Buddy Pickett, and Richard Vansutphin.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
