Born by about 1613 (based on estimated date of 1st marriage). Came to Massachusetts Bay in 1634 (based on admission to freemanship on 6 May 1635). (George Phelps may have been the "George P____" who sailed to New England on the "Recovery" in 1634.) First settled in Dorchester; moved to Windsor CT in 1736 & Westfield MA by 1672. Died in Westfield MA, 8 May 1687.
Married (1) by 1638 Philura Randall, daughter of PHILLIP RANDALL {1633, Dorchester}. She died at Windsor on 29 Apr 1648.
(2) Windsor [2] Nov 164[8], Frances (____) (Clark) Dewey, widow of THOMAS DEWEY {1633, Dorchester}. She died at Westfield on 27 Sep 1690.
George Phelps may have been brother of WILLIAM PHELPS {1632, Dorchester}.
Pope stated that George Phelps was "proprietor 1632" at Dorchester. This record is actually for GEORGE PHILLIPS {1632, Dorchester}.

Phelps Family research, NEHGS research, and DNA have all since proven that George and William were not related.
