Mary Bell Crisp

Mary Bell Crisp, 88, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2009, at a Chattanooga hospital.

She was the wife of the Rev. Staton Crisp, and a daughter of the late Charlie and Bertha Bunch Millsap. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Gertha Dean Crisp and Marylene Crisp; one son, Vernel Crisp; one sister, Pearl Scroggins; and three brothers, Fred Millsap, Ples Millsap and Dock Millsap. She was a member of Shady Springs Baptist Church in Polk County.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Staton Crisp of Cleveland; three daughters, Ethel Lee Newberry of Cleveland, Glenda Gail Dalton of Reliance, and Denise Crisp of Orlando, Fla.; six sons, Odell Crisp and Dewayne Crisp, both of Cleveland, Dedrick Crisp of Conasauga, the Rev. Lebron Crisp of Longs, S.C., and Wendell Crisp and Stanley Crisp, both of Cleveland; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life Service was 2 p.m. Monday at Boanerges Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Chastain, the Rev. Charles Moore and the Rev. Lebron Crisp officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
