The Rev. Staton B. Crisp, 94, of Cleveland, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 11, 2013, in a local hospital.

He was the son of Charlie and Zelia Aldredge Crisp. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Mary Crisp; his brothers: Virdon, Waymond, Ray, Arlin, Doyle, Sherrill, Edglee, Zebedee; and two infant brothers; son, Vernel Crisp; and his daughters: Marylene Crisp and Gertha Dean Crisp.

He was a Baptist minister for more than 70 years, pastoring at Shady Springs, Conasauga, Hopewell, in Cisco Ga., Baptist churches. In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, he was a prominent and well-known builder and brick mason building numerous houses and churches. He was a member of the Four Point Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons; his daughters; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Cecil B. Crisp, of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Boanerges Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes and from 1 to 2 Thursday at Boanerges Baptist Church.
