Sports Broadcaster. During his career of more than fifty years, he called such major sporting events as baseball, football, basketball and boxing. He was educated at the University of Washington and began his career as a broadcaster in Hawaii. Durnig the 1950s, he gained national recognition calling games for Philadelphia's "Big-Five" college basketball teams. In addition, he broadcasted both New York's baseball and football Giants games as well as the New York Knicks. He announced numerous championship boxing matches, including Cassius Clay's (Muhammad Ali) first victory over Sonny Liston in 1964. He would later return to Hawaii, where he resumed his calling of their local sporting events including games for the University of Hawaii.
