Most historians think that this Magness family were the first white settlers in Arkansas. Perry Green and his twin brother Morgan Jefferson Magness joined 'Confederate States of America' at Yellville, Marion Co., Arkansas on 6-28-1862 at age 33. Perry was captured in Carroll/Boone Co. Arkansas about 2-18-1863, was sent to prison in St. Louis MO., 3-29-1863. He was discharged after signing a waiver that he would not take up arms against Union. He walked home to Yellville, took over 2 weeks. He had to travel mostly at night to avoid Yankees and Bushwhackers. In an 1880 census, 7-10-1880, Perry and son Wayne were listed as being unable to work due to pistol shot.
