Funeral services for James L. Spencer, 70, of Rosepine, will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 2, in Myers-Colonial Funeral Home. Dr. Paul W. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine. Visitation is from 9 a.m.

Mr. Spencer died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in the DeRidder hospital. A native of Roger, Ark., he lived in Rosepine most of his life. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, 2nd Division, 23 Infantry Regiment. He was a member of American Legion Post 0027; Rosepine Lodge 190 F&AM; Habibi Temple Shrine; Scottish Rite; Knights Temples Rhodes Commandrey; and Rosepine Chapter 204, O.E.S. He attended First Baptist Church of Rosepine.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Spencer of Rosepine; one son, Nathan Spencer of Sulphur; two daughters, Nora Lea Smith of Kirbyville, Texas, and Marilyn Spencer of Rosepine; five brothers, Rudy Spencer of Tyjunju, Calif., Bobby Spencer of Quinlan, Texas, Billy Spencer of Dinuba, Calif., Kenny Spencer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ronnie Spencer of Rosepine; two sisters, Barbara Davis of Brush, Colo., and Sue Maiville of Fairfield, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
